it encourages hope
it creates fire
but may foster fear
fortifies the fool
and destroys

can be the source of our best moments
- the joy of love
- the clarity of hatred
- the ecstasy of grief

an elusive force - not easy to capture
it goes against laws, time or fashion
when we find ourselves in it
we would become slave to its memory
which could be sweet or bitter

it hurts
sometimes more than we can bear
if we could live without it
perhaps we might have some kind of peace
but we would be hollow
living in empty rooms
living meaningless lives

without it
we would be truly dead
